The Opportunity\n\nWe are currently looking to recruit a Senior Design Engineer to join a growing consultancy delivering a wide range of technically interesting projects across the UK.\n\nThis Senior Electrical Design Engineer role offers the opportunity to take ownership of design projects while supporting the development of junior engineers within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.\n\nThe business is keen to attract an ambitious Senior Design Engineer who is motivated to develop their career, with a clear pathway towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status supported through structured training and mentoring.\n\nAbout the Business\n\nM&E services sit at the heart of every building we see, enter, and work within. Electrical systems are critical to ensuring buildings operate safely, efficiently, and comfortably.\n\nThe consultancy specialises in:\n\nLV Supply & Distribution\n\nGeneral LV Power\n\nLighting & Emergency Lighting\n\nFire Detection & Alarm Systems\n\nRenewable technologies including Solar PV & EV Charging\n\nEngineers work across RIBA Stages 2–5+, delivering full lifecycle design and consultancy services alongside specialist technical support such as:\n\nLighting calculations\n\nCable sizing (Amtech)\n\nContainment design\n\nDesign reviews and site inspections\n\nThe Role\n\nAs a Senior Design Engineer, you will take responsibility for delivering a range of building services projects from concept through to completion.\n\nYou will be trusted to work independently, manage design activities, and contribute to the successful delivery of projects within time, cost, and quality expectations.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nProject Delivery\n\n * \n\n Deliver electrical design projects with minimal supervision\n\n * \n\n Manage workload and support team resource planning to meet deadlines\n\n * \n\n Work within defined project plans and coordinate with stakeholders\n\n * \n\n Translate client briefs into practical and innovative design solutions\n\nDesign & Technical\n\n * \n\n Produce and review electrical building services designs\n\n * \n\n Ensure accuracy and quality of design outputs\n\n * \n\n Work within project scope, programme, and budget constraints\n\nTeam Leadership & Mentoring\n\n * \n\n Support and mentor junior engineers\n\n * \n\n Delegate tasks and monitor progress\n\n * \n\n Act as a key point of contact within project teams\n\nCommercial\n\n * \n\n Build and maintain strong client relationships\n\n * \n\n Identify opportunities for additional work\n\n * \n\n Support proposals, variations, and project documentation\n\n * \n\n Understand commercial and contractual project risks\n\nProfessional development is a key focus, with full support for engineers progressing towards Chartered Engineer status.\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\n\n * \n\n Experience as a Design Engineer within building services or similar\n\n * \n\n Experience using software such as Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and AutoCAD/Revit\n\n * \n\n Ability to manage projects and deliver independently\n\n * \n\n Strong communication and mentoring skills\n\n * \n\n Ambitious and motivated to progress professionally\n\nWhy Apply?\n\n * \n\n Clear progression to Chartered Engineer (CEng)\n\n * \n\n Exposure to diverse and technically interesting projects\n\n * \n\n Supportive and collaborative team environment\n\n * \n\n Opportunity to take ownership of projects\n\n * \n\n Long-term career development
