Join Our Facilities Team – Senior Cook
\nDo you thrive in a busy kitchen, enjoy leading a team, and take pride in delivering nutritious meals that make a real difference? We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Cook to join our Facilities (Soft FM) team, supporting school communities across the Falkirk Council area.
\nIn this leadership role, you’ll manage daily catering operations in one of our larger kitchens, ensuring high-quality food, safe working practices, and excellent customer service for pupils, staff, and visitors.
\nWhat You’ll Do:
\n- \n
- Plan menus, prepare and cook meals, including those for transport to other sites \n
- Supervise and support Catering Assistants, manage rotas and on-the-job training \n
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, hygiene, and allergen control procedures \n
- Oversee stock control, equipment checks, and ordering of supplies \n
- Handle budgets, cash, and transactions using the Council’s systems \n
- Provide meals that meet nutritional standards and dietary needs \n
What We’re Looking For:
\n- \n
- City & Guilds 706 Part 1 and 2 (or equivalent) \n
- Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate (essential) \n
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills \n
- Experience in a similar supervisory kitchen or catering environment \n
- Knowledge of current Health & Safety and food safety regulations \n
- Basic numeracy, literacy, and IT confidence \n
- A mentoring approach to team development \n
The Role:

- Location: Beancross Primary School \n
- Hours: 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7.30am to 2.30pm (1/2 hour unpaid break) \n
- Contract: Permanent, Full Year \n
- Line Management: Responsible for a team of Catering Assistants \n
- Reporting to: Building Services Officer \n
