MERITUS are working with a leading engineering and systems integration organisation based in Glasgow. They're looking for a Senior Control Systems Software Engineer to take a key role in delivering complex, high-impact projects.

As a Senior Control Systems Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of PLC-based control systems within energy and utilities environments. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team, supporting the delivery of reliable and high-performance control systems for critical energy assets.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of technical deliverables, contribute to system design, and support commissioning activities across a variety of energy projects.

Main Responsibilities:

Design, develop and test control system software for energy sector applications using Siemens PLC platforms Contribute to project delivery across all phases, from requirements definition through to commissioning Produce high-quality technical documentation including functional design specifications and test documentation Collaborate with internal teams and energy sector clients to ensure successful technical delivery Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and on-site commissioning

Required Skills & Experience:

Strong experience in the design & programming of Siemens PLCs (e.g. TIA Portal, S7, PCS7) Experience delivering PLC/SCADA/DCS systems within the energy sector (e.g. generation, transmission, renewables) Good understanding of control systems engineering across the full project lifecycle Knowledge of IEC 61131 programming languages (e.g. Ladder Logic, Function Block, Structured Text) Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and within a team
