Senior Commissioning Manager - AWE Burghfield\n\nLocation: AWE Burghfield (Full-time site-based)\n Rate: £700 per day (Outside IR35 - all-in rate)\n Contract: ASAP start - 6-month contract\n Hours: Full-time, with flexibility for occasional weekend/evening work\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Manager to lead and oversee commissioning activities on a major programme at AWE Burghfield. This is a high-profile, complex project within a secure and highly regulated environment, requiring strong leadership, coordination, and technical capability across mechanical, electrical, and process systems. \nThe successful candidate will manage commissioning teams, interface with construction, design, and operations stakeholders, and ensure that systems are safely and effectively brought into service in line with project and regulatory requirements.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLead and coordinate all commissioning activities, ensuring safe and compliant delivery.\nDevelop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules.\nManage commissioning teams, contractors, and subcontractors on site.\nInterface with design, construction, safety, and client teams to ensure seamless handover.\nOversee documentation, test packs, ITPs, and system sign-offs.\nEnsure adherence to quality, safety, and project milestones.\nProvide technical leadership and resolve commissioning issues as they arise.\nDrive continuous improvement and lessons learned across commissioning processes.\n\nEssential Experience & Qualifications\n\nProven track record as a Senior Commissioning Manager or Commissioning Lead on large, complex engineering projects.\nBackground in mechanical or electrical engineering (M&E bias ).\nExperience within highly regulated environments - nuclear, defence, or similar sectors strongly .\nStrong understanding of commissioning management systems, methodologies, and documentation.\nExcellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.\nAbility to work full-time on site and flexibly to meet project demands (occasional evenings/weekends).\nRelevant engineering qualification (HNC/Degree) and professional affiliation advantageous.\nMust be eligible for UK Security Clearance.\n\nContract Details\n\nRate: £700 per day (Outside IR35, all-in rate)\nLocation: AWE Burghfield (full-time site-based)\nDuration: 6-months min.
