Miryco are partnering with an insurer in the Lloyd's of London market to secure a Senior Claims Adjuster for their International Casualty business.


Responsibilities


This position focuses on the effective handling of International Casualty claims within the Lloyd’s and London Market environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering timely, accurate, and consistent claims assessment, reserving, and settlement outcomes.


A key aspect of the role involves ensuring that Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) and Conduct Risk principles are embedded into daily decision-making, supporting fair customer outcomes and high service standards. In addition, strict adherence to Data Protection legislation, including GDPR and the Data Protection Act, is essential.


Key duties include:


  • Assessing and agreeing valid claims for settlement in a timely manner
  • Developing and executing strategies to progress claims efficiently toward resolution
  • Identifying and investigating potential coverage issues where relevant
  • Setting and adjusting reserves in line with liability, coverage, and quantum considerations, in accordance with internal guidelines
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date claims data within internal systems
  • Collaborating with internal teams, including Delegated Authority and central claims functions, to ensure claims progress effectively
  • Managing relationships with external stakeholders such as legal advisers and other subject matter experts across multiple jurisdictions
  • Reviewing stagnant claims and taking appropriate action to move them forward
  • Using diary systems effectively to track key actions, recoveries, and claim developments
  • Building and maintaining strong working relationships with delegated claims handlers
  • Keeping up to date with market trends and legal developments relevant to International Casualty
  • Escalating high-value or complex claims in line with authority limits and business impact considerations
  • Supporting business initiatives and contributing to project work where required
  • Ensuring compliance with internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements


The role may also involve undertaking additional responsibilities as required, either on a temporary or ongoing basis.


Requirements

Experience & Competence:

  • Significant experience handling International Casualty claims
  • Proven track record in managing complex and litigated cases

Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with legal frameworks in the US, Canada, and Australia
  • Experience using Lloyd’s claims systems, including ECF

Skills:

  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence outcomes
  • Confident presenting and explaining complex information clearly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to different audiences
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to changing demands

Working Arrangements

Standard working hours are 9:30am to 5:30pm. The role follows a hybrid working model, with three days in the office and two days working remotely each week.
