Senior Civil / Structural Engineer\n\nCroydon\n\n£50k-£55k plus benefits\n\nOur client is a leading employee-owned engineering consultancy, currently seeking a Senior Civil Structural Engineer to join its expanding infrastructure team.\n\nThis role offers the opportunity to lead complex bridge and structural design projects, manage multidisciplinary teams, and take full responsibility for the technical and financial delivery of assignments.\n\nRole Overview\n\nThe successful candidate will take a key leadership role in the design, planning, and execution of civil and structural engineering projects. This includes overseeing the preparation of detailed designs, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, managing project schedules and budgets, and liaising directly with clients.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLead the design and delivery of bridge and civil structure projects from concept through to construction.\nPrepare and review engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical reports.\nCoordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.\nTake ownership of project budgets, proposals, and programme management.\nEnsure all design work complies with health and safety regulations, environmental considerations, and relevant industry standards.\nProvide technical mentorship and supervision to junior team members, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.\nSupport business development efforts through technical input on proposals and bids.\nRepresent the company at client meetings, industry events, and technical forums.\nSome travel, including overnight stays or weekend site visits, may be required. \n\nEssential Attributes:\n\nProven ability to manage teams and deliver high-quality engineering solutions.\nStrong communication and client relationship skills.\nAmbition to progress within a dynamic, employee-owned environment.

\n\nDesirable Experience:\n\n5-8 years' experience in civil and structural engineering, ideally with a focus on bridges or infrastructure.\nProficient in CAD standards and drawing production.\nCapable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines.\nAble to produce structured, accurate technical outputs with minimal oversight.\nComfortable representing technical views to both internal stakeholders and external clients. \n\nAdditional Skills (Advantageous):\n\nStrong leadership and project management capability.\nFamiliarity with procurement and contract administration.\nExcellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills. \n\nQualifications:\n\nA Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field (ICE-accredited).\nChartered or Incorporated Engineer status with ICE or an equivalent professional institution.
