Senior Civil Engineer Central London Our client is an established and growing civil and structural engineering consultancy delivering design-led solutions across London and the South East. Their civil engineering team supports a broad range of building and development projects, from complex constrained urban sites to larger land development schemes. Due to sustained growth and an increasing project workload, they are now seeking to appoint a Senior Civil Engineer to strengthen their civil engineering capability and support the next phase of expansion. The Role This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer looking to take on a key delivery-focused role within a growing team. Initially, the position will focus on leading civil engineering design packages and supporting project delivery across a diverse portfolio of schemes. As the team continues to grow, there is a clear pathway for this role to evolve into a leadership position, working closely with senior technical leadership to help shape the development, standards, and direction of the civil engineering team. Key Responsibilities Technical delivery and leadership of civil engineering design packages, including: Below-ground drainage and SuDS External works and levels design Highway and access works, including S278 where applicable Earthworks strategies and cut/fill analysis Coordination of civil design within multidisciplinary building-led projects, working closely with structural engineers, architects, and other consultants. Preparation and oversight of pre-planning deliverables, including Flood Risk Assessments, Drainage Strategies, and technical notes. Support through detailed design and construction stages, including responding to technical queries and managing design updates. Promoting best practice in digital delivery, including the effective use of Civil 3D and hydraulic modelling software. Reviewing and checking work as part of project quality assurance processes. Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and technicians. Contributing to fee proposals, client engagement, and business development activities where appropriate. Candidate Profile Degree qualified in Civil Engineering (BEng or MEng). Chartered or actively working towards Chartership (ICE or equivalent). Strong UK consultancy experience delivering civil engineering design for building or development projects. Sound technical expertise in drainage, SuDS, highways, external works, and levels design. Proficient in Civil 3D and hydraulic modelling software (e.g. InfoDrainage / MicroDrainage). Comfortable working across feasibility, planning support, detailed design, and construction phases.
