Senior Civil Engineer \n\n Location: Derby\n\nSalary: Competitive\n\n Overview \n\nOur client is an established civil and structural engineering consultancy has an immediate requirement for a Senior Civil Engineer to join its experienced civil engineering design team in Derby. The role offers exposure to a wide range of projects across multiple sectors and provides structured support towards chartership.\n\n Key Responsibilities\n\nDesign and drafting of SuDS schemes, private external works, and Section 38 and Section 104 works for adoption\n\nCivil engineering design and drafting across residential, industrial, and commercial sectors\n\nDelivery of projects ranging from small housing schemes to multi-storey developments, with construction values between £250,000 and £30 million\n\nContribution to projects delivered to BIM Level 2\n\nUse of industry-standard software including MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, Civil3D, and PDS, with final drawings produced in AutoCAD\n\nDeputising for the team leader as required, including planning and organisation of tasks, people, and resources to ensure timely project delivery in line with current design guidelines\n\n Skills & Experience \n\n Essential:\n\nDemonstrable experience using AutoCAD for technical drawing (to be assessed at interview)\n\nDegree-level qualification in Civil Engineering\n\nLogical and analytical approach to problem-solving\n\nExperience using Civil3D or PDS, and InfoDrainage or MicroDrainage\n\nKnowledge of the construction industry, relevant design standards, and basic health and safety\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\n\n Experience\n\nSuitable for a Civil Engineer with 3-5 years' post-graduate experience\n\nExperience working collaboratively within a civil engineering design team\n\nProven ability to manage and deliver design work to required technical standards\n\nStrong client-facing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and in writing\n\n Professional Development\n\nOn-the-job training provided to support continued technical development\n\nClose collaboration with senior engineers and structured mentorship towards ICE chartership\n\n Education & Additional Skills\n\nStrong background in English and Mathematics\n\nFully computer literate, with competency in Microsoft Word and Excel\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving capability
