Senior Business Development Manager – Corporate Renewable Energy & Sustainability

Renewabl is redefining how companies procure renewable energy. Our platform helps leading corporates and utilities buy and sell cost-effective renewable energy with real impact, and track their Carbon Free Energy (CFE) scores hourly.

We help customers move beyond annual certificates to hourly-matched renewable energy, improving ESG credibility, reducing risk, and preparing for emerging 24/7 clean energy standards. We’re scaling across the UK, Europe and beyond and are building a focused commercial team to support this next phase of growth.


The Role

We’re looking for a senior, hands-on Business Development Manager to drive new business with corporate energy buyers and will report into the Head of Commercial.

This is a hunter-led, consultative role suited to someone who has some existing knowledge and network of relevant contacts across corporate energy, sustainability, procurement, utilities, developers, or adjacent parts of the energy ecosystem - and knows how to turn those into commercial opportunities.

This is not a high-volume outbound role. You’ll work with a defined target market of corporate accounts, developing thoughtful, account-based sales strategies and leading complex sales cycles end-to-end. You’ll engage sustainability, energy procurement, and finance stakeholders to help them translate climate ambition into credible, cost-aware procurement decisions.

This is an individual contributor role, not a sales leadership position but there is scope to grow into that over time. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Own new business development across a defined set of target corporate accounts.
  • Leverage your existing energy-sector knowledge and network to open doors and accelerate early conversations.
  • Develop thoughtful, account-based sales strategies rather than high-volume outbound campaigns.
  • Lead consultative discovery with sustainability, energy, procurement, and finance stakeholders.
  • Translate complex energy and sustainability topics into clear commercial value around cost, risk, and credibility.
  • Manage multi-stakeholder sales cycles end-to-end, from initial outreach to contract signature.
  • Work closely with commercial lead, founders, product, and marketing to refine playbooks, messaging and go-to-market approach.
  • Maintain clear pipeline visibility and forecasting discipline.


What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Senior BDM / new business seller in energy, climate tech, energy services, or adjacent B2B environments.
  • Some existing network of relevant energy or sustainability contacts, with the ability to build and expand this over time. We don’t expect an existing book of business, we’re looking for someone who knows the ecosystem and can build trusted relationships quickly.
  • Track record of self-sourcing and closing complex, consultative deals.
  • Comfort selling into multi-stakeholder organisations with long decision cycles.
  • Commercially sharp, credible, and able to communicate technical concepts without jargon.
  • Comfortable using AI and data-driven tools to support sales execution, such as account research, lead generation, prioritisation, and messaging (deep technical expertise not required).
  • Confidence operating in a fast-moving startup environment, with ambiguity and evolving processes.
  • Motivated by ownership and impact in a scaling startup environment.


Nice to Have

  • Experience selling renewable energy, energy data, PPAs, certificates, or sustainability solutions.
  • Exposure to ESG reporting, carbon accounting, or emerging 24/7 clean energy standards.
  • Experience self-sourcing and closing complex deals with enterprise or upper mid-market customers across UK and Europe.

Compensation

  • Base salary: £65,000 - £75,000, depending on experience
  • Bonus: Performance-based bonus scheme linked to new business wins (meaningful upside for strong performers).
