Summary of the role: The Senior Business Analyst (BA) plays a key role in delivering Enterprise Data Management (EDM) and Analytics solutions for EXL’s insurance clients. The role involves working closely with business and technical stakeholders to gather, analyse, and translate business requirements into effective data and process solutions.
Requirements & Analysis
Lead the collection, documentation, and validation of business, functional, and data requirements.
Conduct gap analysis to identify variances between current and target business processes, data structures, or system capabilities.
Translate business needs into detailed user stories, process flows, and technical specifications.
Perform source data analysis and data profiling to assess quality, consistency, and completeness.
Data Management & Governance
Develop and maintain data dictionaries, business glossaries, and metadata documentation.
Define and documentðun business rules for data acquisition, transformation, integration, and quality assurance.
Support the design of data lineage, master data, and reference data management processes.
Identify and recommend improvements in data governance, data quality, and operational efficiency.
Reporting & Insights
Capture and document reporting, analytics, and data visualisation requirements in collaboration with business stakeholders.
Analyse data trends and patterns to support business decision‑making and process optimisation.
Collaborate with data engineering and BI teams to validate outputs and ensure business needsrored.
Stakeholder Management & Delivery
Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, technical teams, and data specialists.
Communicate project status, issues, and risks clearly and effectively across all levels.
Support roadmap development, prioritisation, dependency mapping, and resourcing.
Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and change management activities to ensure successful implementation.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst within the Insurance industry (Policy, Claims, Regulatory, or Reinsurance data).
Strong understanding of insurance operations, including London Market processes and data flows.
Proven experience in Enterprise Data Management, Data Warehousing, Data Governanceemende or Data Quality initiatives.
Hands‑on experience with data profiling, requirements gathering, and business process documentation.
Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Business, Information Systems, or Data Analytics).
Experience working with Data Lake / Data Warehouse / Data Governance tools (e.g., Azure Data Services, Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI, Alation, Collibra).
Exposure to Agile / Scrum methodologies.
Experience with SQL or data query tools for data validation and analysis.
Familiarity with regulatory reporting and compliance requirements in insurance.
Strong business acumen with the ability to bridge business and technology.
Detail‑oriented, analytical, and highly organised.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
