Base pay range Senior Business Analyst (Consulting) Location: Leeds (hybrid with client travel) Employment Type: Full‑time, Permanent Sector: Digital Consultancy Overview Our client, a UK‑based digital consultancy, is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join their consulting practice. This is a leadership role suited to a senior practitioner who enjoys working across multidisciplinary teams, influencing stakeholders, and shaping how business analysis is delivered in complex environments. You will play a key role in guiding teams, advising clients, and applying a range of analytical and delivery approaches to clearly define business needs and drive impactful digital outcomes. Responsibilities
Analyse complex business challenges and recommend improvements to existing services or the creation of new, user‑centred solutions. Apply visual modelling techniques to document processes and identify improvement opportunities with measurable benefits. Lead and facilitate workshops with delivery teams and client stakeholders to align on goals, scope and solutions. Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with clients and senior stakeholders. Collaborate with designers to prototype and test early product concepts that address real user problems. Participate in and support research activities, using insights and data to inform decisions and recommendations. Work closely with Product Owners and Delivery Managers to plan, prioritise and manage delivery backlogs. Select, tailor and continuously improve ways of working, measuring their effectiveness throughout delivery. Champion Agile business analysis practices to support iterative, value‑driven delivery. Coach, mentor and guide Business Analysts and other team members. Contribute to the wider Business Analysis community through knowledge sharing, internal initiatives, events and thought leadership. Travel occasionally to client sites as required by project needs.
Requirements Analytical & Critical Thinking
Ability to synthesise information from multiple sources and recommend the most appropriate approach for complex situations. Confidence presenting findings, rationale and recommendations to senior stakeholders using evidence‑based reasoning. Ability to respond independently to stakeholder queries with minimal supervision. Experience communicating insights through a range of formats, selecting the most effective approach for the audience.
Requirements Gathering & Management
Proven experience leading requirements elicitation using a variety of techniques and stakeholder groups. Ability to guide and mentor other Business Analysts on effective requirements approaches. Ownership of requirements documentation, including constraints, dependencies and governance considerations. Accountability for ensuring shared understanding of scope, priorities and delivery objectives. Ability to promote and embed best practice across delivery teams.
User‑Centred Design
Strong understanding of user‑centred and service design principles and the Business Analyst’s role within them. Ability to collaborate effectively with designers and influence research planning and design decisions. Familiarity with recognised service design standards, such as Government Digital Service (GDS) standards or equivalent. Capability to coach other Business Analysts on applying user‑centred approaches. Advanced experience documenting complex processes, systems and information structures using appropriate modelling techniques. Ability to identify, analyse and quantify process improvements or issues in complex environments. Experience coaching others in selecting and applying modelling methods effectively.
Client Engagement
Strong client‑focused mindset, ensuring solutions consistently align with client needs and objectives. Ability to define client requirements clearly and present coherent, end‑to‑end delivery approaches. Effective use of professional networks and subject‑matter expertise to resolve client challenges. Contribution to the growth and strengthening of long‑term client relationships. Ability to manage and reprioritise work proactively in response to changing demands. Experience managing conflict constructively and supporting delivery within budget and scope constraints. Ability to support onboarding and integration of new team members into projects.
