About the Role
We are looking for a talented Business Analyst to support the transition from a content delivery focus to a harmonised, personalised platform. You will play a pivotal role in driving researcher engagement and fostering loyalty. The position is a maternity cover with a fixed term.
Responsibilities
Work with stakeholders to understand our goals & vision, and identify business needs.
Orchestrate collaboration within the team and externally with business stakeholders.
Communicate to the development team how the requirements are aligned with the business needs and the big‑picture goals.
Collaborate and provide business analysis support to the product manager, business sponsors, SMEs and the team during development.
Unearth the root cause(s) of pain points, validate business opportunities and problems.
Prioritise competing demands and obtain buy‑in from stakeholders.
Map, analyse and validate information flows within a complex organisational setting.
Plan, organise and lead workshops that generate ideas and resolve problems.
Champion business analysis best practices and principles within the BA community.
Challenge and influence decisions; focus on customer and business value.
Monitor, track and communicate progress and issues relating to the project as a whole.
Capture information in the team's Jira and keep it up to date.
What you will be doing
Within 3 months
Strengthen team ceremonies conducted regularly, adding value to the delivery process.
Understand the team’s context in the broader programme and business.
Develop relationships with team members and core stakeholders.
Familiarise yourself with the technology stack and data landscape.
Co‑plan, organise and lead group sessions that generate ideas and resolve problems.
Uncover root cause(s) of pain points and validate opportunities.
Participate actively in the Business Analyst community.
By 3–6 months
Clear understanding of the team’s priorities and ability to communicate them to stakeholders.
Build relationships with key providers and dependent teams.
Monitor, track and communicate progress, risks and issues to stakeholders.
Prioritise competing demands and obtain buy‑in from stakeholders.
Map, analyse and validate information flows and user journeys of digital products.
Collate complex work into manageable pieces.
Contribute to blameless post‑mortems.
Set context with your team to ensure solutions co‑defined provide business value while solving customer problems.
By 6–12 months
Onboard new members to the team.
Co‑define the scope of work, breaking it into smaller pieces when appropriate.
Ensure scoped work aligns with programme and company vision.
Contribute to the design of the system architecture.
Understand our customers’ needs, both internal and external.
Give and receive constructive feedback within your team.
Organise and run sessions with peer groups within the Business Analyst community.
Work alongside your team to define the vision and strategy of your product or service in terms of business and customer outcomes.
Define KPIs to measure product/service performance in terms of business and customer outcomes.
Have a thorough understanding of opportunities and limitations of your product/service offering.
Instil a data‑driven approach to current and future product/service development.
Day‑to‑day Responsibilities
Engage in and/or facilitate Agile ceremonies (daily stand‑ups, planning, prioritisation and steering sessions, story kick‑offs, retrospectives).
Work with stakeholders to understand, analyse and scope new work.
Support team members in problem‑solving activities to remove blockers and complete agreed‑upon work.
About You
Quickly gain context of your product and user space and how it fits into the larger programme landscape.
Proactive, self‑driven and able to pull information without being asked.
Enjoy working in a collaborative team with collective responsibility for the product.
Demonstrated experience delivering software in an agile manner.
Experience facilitating groups to achieve defined goals using various facilitation tools and techniques.
Excellent communication skills, articulating concepts from technical and functional business perspectives.
Proven experience managing and resolving conflict with stakeholders.
Use of data to inform decisions and build better products.
Strong focus on high‑quality customer experience and sustainable solutions.
Identify pain points and address gaps openly.
Outstanding analytical ability to solve complex problems.
Experience working in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Drive, creativity and initiative to move the team forward.
Experience driving continuous improvement and innovation across teams.
