GAP Group, the UK’s largest independent equipment hire company, is looking for an ambitious and commercially astute Senior Bid & Contracts Manager to join our growing Commercial function. This is a rare opportunity to take full ownership of a newly created role, shaping how GAP manages high value bids, tenders, and contracts across the entire business.
Responsibilities
Leading the full lifecycle of bids and tenders, from early qualification right through to post submission negotiation
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating customer contracts and framework agreements
Ensuring all commercial terms support GAP’s operational, financial and risk standards
Working closely with senior leadership and divisional teams to shape commercially competitive proposals
Identifying commercial risk and recommending practical mitigation strategies
Managing contract renewals and supporting teams in delivering contractual obligations
Elevating the quality, consistency and efficiency of bids across the business
Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customer procurement teams
Continuously improving processes, tools, and content within the bid and contracts function
About You
What We’re Looking for
Proven experience in senior bid, commercial or contracts management roles (ideally within construction, plant hire, utilities, infrastructure, or related sectors)
Strong understanding of public & private sector procurement
High commercial acumen with the ability to interpret legal and financial information
Exceptional writing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
Highly organised with strong project management capability and the ability to deliver under pressure
Confident influencing style with the ability to challenge constructively
Collaborative approach and ability to work across multiple specialist divisions
Ability to analyse risk, negotiate effectively, and improve commercial outcomes
Commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high quality outputs
Resilient, proactive, and eager to learn about all areas of the business
