Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with a highly-regarded, forward-thinking Primary School in Central Birmingham to appoint a dedicated and strategic Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCO).
This is a newly created, full-time, leadership position that offers a rare opportunity to design, implement, and lead the school's SEN provision from the ground up, ensuring every child achieves exceptional outcomes.
The School & The Opportunity: A Strategic Leadership Role
Our partner school is renowned in Birmingham for its culture of innovation, inclusive ethos, and commitment to academic excellence. With a rapidly increasing number of pupils requiring specialised support, the school is investing heavily in this new, dedicated SENDCO role to ensure provision is highly impactful, compliant, and deeply embedded across the curriculum.
We are seeking a proactive, experienced professional who is not just operational, but strategic-someone ready to take ownership of the school's inclusive vision.
Key Leadership & Strategic Focus:
Visionary Leadership: Drive the strategic development of the whole-school SEN policy and provision, focusing on sustainable, high-quality interventions and best practices.
Capacity Building: Design and deliver bespoke, high-impact CPD and training to all staff (teachers and TAs) to enhance their confidence and skills in supporting diverse needs.
Compliance & Impact: Efficiently manage all statutory processes, including the timely and accurate submission of EHCP paperwork and annual reviews, focusing on measurably improving learner outcomes.
Effective Partnership: Cultivate and strengthen robust working relationships with Local Authority professionals, external agencies, and specialist services to secure optimal support for pupils.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements):
We seek an individual with a proven track record of impactful SEND leadership and a deep commitment to inclusion.
Essential Qualification: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
SEND Qualification: Hold the National Award for SEN Co-ordination (NASENCO) or be demonstrably working towards it.
Expert Knowledge: In-depth, current knowledge of the 2015 SEND Code of Practice and its practical application.
Proven Impact: A history of successfully raising academic and personal outcomes for learners with a diverse range of SEN.
Communication Mastery: Exceptional interpersonal skills to champion the needs of SEN learners and foster effective communication with staff, parents, and governors.
Why Choose This Role?
Autonomy & Impact: The chance to build and refine a provision that directly reflects your expertise and vision.
Professional Growth: Access to leadership coaching and ongoing, high-level professional development focused on strategic SEND management.
Competitive Package: Excellent daily rates / competitive salary, with dedicated guidance and support throughout your transition.
Start Date: January 2026 (or sooner for the right candidate).
