Pay Rate: £14.30 – £16.00 per hour

A friendly and inclusive primary school in Darwen is looking to appoint a committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join their specialist provision on a temp‑to‑perm basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs in a nurturing mainstream setting.

The school’s SEND class provides structured, personalised support for pupils with a variety of needs, including ASC, Speech and Language challenges and SEMH. You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, build confidence and develop essential social and emotional skills.

Whether your experience comes from schools, youth work, care, residential settings or community support, your understanding of SEND and your ability to build positive relationships will be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

Support pupils within the specialist SEND class on a 1:1 and group basis

Implement tailored learning activities and intervention programmes

Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

Encourage communication, independence and engagement

Work closely with the class teacher and SEND team

Experience supporting individuals with ASC, Speech and Language needs or SEMH

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team

A genuine interest in helping children overcome barriers to learning

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
