SEND Teaching Assistant – Secondary SEND School (Brixton)

We are currently recruiting an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to work full time in a specialist SEN secondary school based in Brixton, supporting students aged 11–19 years.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate SEND TA who has experience working with autistic students and supporting learners with social and communication needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting students with Autism and associated social, emotional and communication needs
Providing 1:1 and small group support across the secondary age range
Assisting with literacy and phonics interventions
Using PECS and Makaton to support communication
Implementing strong behaviour management strategies
Supporting students with personal care when required
Working closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to support individual learning plansEssential Requirements:

Proven experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant, ideally within a secondary SEN setting
Experience supporting autistic students with social and communication needs
Practical experience using PECS and Makaton
Experience delivering literacy and phonics support
Strong behaviour management skills
Ability to support personal care needs when necessary
Available for a full-time position onlyPay & Working Hours:

£92.41 per day PAYE, increasing to £100 per day PAYE after 12 weeks
Full time: Monday to Friday
