SEND Teacher

New Today

SEND Teacher – The reason some pupils don’t give up
Not every classroom runs on neat lesson plans and tidy outcomes.
Some run on patience.
On trust.
On the moment a child finally feels safe enough to try.

If that’s what drives your teaching, you’ll feel right at home here.

We’re looking for a SEND Teacher for a school in North Leeds who understands that progress isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s a look, a word, a small step forward that no one else notices… but you do

You’ll be working across specialist and alternative settings, supporting pupils who need consistency, structure, and someone who genuinely understands them.

What your role will really look like
This is teaching, just in a different way.

Shaping learning around each pupil, not squeezing them into a one-size-fits-all approach

Building trust with children who don’t give it easily

Working closely with TAs, SENCOs, and therapists as part of a supportive team

Supporting pupils with ASD, SEMH, PMLD, and complex needs

Turning challenging moments into meaningful breakthroughs, no matter how small

And those small wins? They mean everything ✨

Why SEND teachers choose this kind of role or transition from mainstream
You’re not here for easy days, you’re here for meaningful ones.

The chance to teach in a way that truly reflects your values

Support from teams who understand SEND, not just talk about it

Opportunities across specialist schools, PRUs, and alternative provisions

A pathway to long-term or permanent roles where you can settle and grow

You’ll thrive here if you…

✔️ Stay calm when the day doesn’t go to plan
✔️ Adapt naturally — no two pupils, or days, are ever the same
✔️ Put relationships first, because that’s where real progress begins
✔️ Believe every child deserves to feel safe, understood, and capable

What you’ll need

QTS or strong experience within SEND settings
A patient, compassionate approach
Confidence adapting lessons to meet a wide range of needs

⭐ What you’ll get back

Weekly PAYE pay — no umbrella hassle
Free CPD, including SEND and behaviour support
A consultant who actually listens, not just fills roles
Flexible opportunities that work around you

If you are, amazing — schools love it.
If not, we’ve got you covered. We offer free Thrive training, giving you practical tools to support emotional development and help you stand out even more in SEND settings.
