SENCO (Maternity Cover) – Immediate Start

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated SENCO to join a specialist provision supporting children and young people aged 10–19 with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a key leadership role, responsible for ensuring high-quality provision, effective outcomes, and strong multi-agency collaboration for all pupils with SEND.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the school’s SEND provision in line with statutory requirements and best practice
* Oversee the implementation, review, and quality of EHCPs, ensuring provision meets individual needs
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support differentiation, inclusion, and pupil progress
* Monitor and track the progress of pupils with SEND, ensuring effective interventions are in place
* Coordinate and liaise with external professionals including Educational Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapists, and CAMHS
* Support and guide staff through training, coaching, and best practice in SEND and inclusive teaching
* Lead annual reviews and contribute to multi-agency meetings
* Work closely with families, carers, and local authorities to ensure a holistic approach to support
* Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with safeguarding and SEND policies
* Contribute to the wider leadership and development of the school
About You
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* National Award for SEN Coordination (or working towards)
* Proven experience working as a SENCO or in a senior SEND role
* Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, EHCP processes, and safeguarding
* Experience within specialist or alternative provision settings (highly desirable)
* Ability to support pupils with complex needs, including ASD and SEMH
* Excellent communication and leadership skills
* A proactive, solution-focused approach with a commitment to inclusive education
