Teaching Assistant – PMLD / SLD (Specialist SEN Setting)
Location: Stourbridge
Contract: Full-time / Long-term
Start Date: ASAP (or January start)

We are recruiting Teaching Assistants to work within a specialist SEN provision in the Stourbridge area, supporting pupils with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) and SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties) on a long-term basis.

Pupils within this setting have complex learning needs, with many requiring support with communication, physical development, sensory processing, and daily care. This role is suited to individuals who are compassionate, patient, and confident supporting children with high levels of need.

About the Role:

Supporting pupils with PMLD and SLD on a 1:1 and small group basis

*

Assisting with highly differentiated learning activities focused on engagement, sensory learning, and life skills

*

Supporting pupils with limited or non-verbal communication, including use of PECS, Makaton, and sensory cues

*

Providing personal care where required, including toileting, feeding, and changing

*

Supporting pupils with mobility, positioning, and use of specialist equipment

*

Working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to follow EHCPs and care plans

The Ideal Candidate:

*

Experience supporting pupils with PMLD and/or SLD, or a background in care, support work, or SEN education

*

Confident and comfortable providing personal care

*

Understanding of sensory needs and complex physical or medical requirements

*

Calm, nurturing, and highly attentive to individual needs

*

Able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

*

Seeking a long-term position within a specialist setting
