SEN Teaching Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with special educational needs (SEN).

Assist in the delivery of lessons and activities, adapting materials and methods to meet the individual needs of students.

Support students in their personal, social, and emotional development to encourage positive behaviour and learning.

Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensure the best outcomes for students.

Help monitor and track students' progress, providing feedback to teachers on their development and areas of need.

Assist with classroom management and ensure a safe and positive learning environment for all students.

Support the use of assistive technologies and other resources to enhance learning for students with SEN.

Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.

Key Requirements:

Previous experience working with children with SEN in an educational setting (desirable).

A genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs and promoting inclusive education.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to the individual needs of students.

An understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN and a commitment to supporting their development.

A relevant qualification in supporting children or SEN (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification, SEN qualification) is an advantage.

Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
