SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 – Year 2) Islington, London | Part-time (Thursdays & Fridays), Temporary
Are you an energetic, compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding part-time role in a school where inclusion truly comes first? This welcoming Church of England primary school in Islington is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil every Thursday and Friday from January.
Serving a vibrant inner-city community, this well-regarded school is a place where curious minds, kind hearts and big dreams come to life. Children are at the heart of everything the school does, and staff work together to provide a safe, nurturing and ambitious learning environment where every child is supported to succeed.
About the role
You will work 1:1 with a non-verbal pupil in Year 2. The child is active and may attempt to run off, so this role is ideal for someone who is physically active, alert and confident managing movement around the classroom and school. No intimate or personal care is required.
Your role will include:
• Supporting the pupil to access learning and engage positively in class
• Helping them follow routines and transitions throughout the school day
• Encouraging communication, interaction and positive relationships with peers
• Working closely with the class teacher and SEND team to implement support strategies
The ideal candidate will:
• Have experience supporting children with SEN, ideally non-verbal pupils in EYFS or KS1
• Be calm, patient, consistent and nurturing in their approach
• Be confident, proactive and able to respond quickly when needed
• Enjoy working as part of a collaborative, supportive team
• Be reliably available every Thursday and Friday
What the school offers
• A warm, inclusive and supportive staff culture
• Strong leadership and a clear commitment to SEN provision
• A chance to make a meaningful difference in a child’s daily school experience
If you’re looking for a fulfilling part-time role in an inspiring Islington school, we’d love to hear from you.
