SEN Teaching Assistant – KS1 (ASD Focus)

Full-Time, Temporary (Term Time Only)

Teach Now is proud to be working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Haringey to recruit an experienced and confident SEN Teaching Assistant. This is a rewarding opportunity for a skilled professional who is passionate about supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and enabling meaningful access to learning in Key Stage 1.

The role involves supporting several pupils with ASD through short, targeted learning sessions (up to 30 minutes) within the classroom environment. The focus is firmly on learning and progress, rather than behaviour management alone, making this an ideal role for an SEN TA who enjoys actively leading and adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.

The school is proudly multicultural, and several pupils speak Spanish, Filipino, or Ukrainian as a first language. Candidates who speak or understand one of these languages will be highly valued, though this is not essential.

Hours progression: Initially half days, with a clear pathway to full-time hours by late January/early February (subject to funding approval)

Key Responsibilities:

• Delivering targeted SEN support to KS1 pupils with ASD

• Supporting access to the curriculum through structured, engaging sessions

• Adapting learning strategies to suit individual needs

• Working closely with the class teacher and SEN team

• Encouraging independence, confidence, and communication

Why This Role?

• Competitive hourly rate of £16–£17

• Supportive school with a strong inclusion ethos

• Opportunity to transition into full-time hours

• A genuinely impactful role supporting diverse learners

If you’re an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant ready to make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
