About the Role
You will be based within the school's specialist resource base, supporting children who have a range of additional needs such as communication and interaction difficulties, ASD, learning delay, or SEMH needs.
The role involves a mixture of one‑to‑one support, small‑group work, and classroom‑based assistance.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting pupils with SEND within the resource base and occasionally in mainstream classes
Providing one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions tailored to individual needs
Using strategies to support communication, emotional regulation, sensory needs, and behaviour
Working closely with teachers and SENCO to follow personalised learning plans
Assisting with assessments, observations, and recording progress
Supporting pupils with daily routines, transitions, and independence skills
Following safeguarding, behaviour, and SEND policies at all times
What We're Looking For
A Level 3 qualification (Teaching Assistant, Childcare, or equivalent) - essential
Experience working with SEND pupils in a school or specialist setting - essential
Understanding of strategies used to support pupils with ASD, communication needs, or SEMH
Patience, consistency, and the ability to build trusting relationships
Confidence supporting children with varied learning and sensory needs
Ability to work as part of a supportive team and follow guidance
