Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to work within welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary schools across Plymouth. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners who require additional support.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of needs, including:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs Speech and Language difficulties You’ll be helping to create a positive, structured, and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Providing 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning needs Assisting pupils in accessing the curriculum and staying engaged in lessons Working collaboratively with class teachers and SENCOs to implement support strategies Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development Encouraging independence, confidence, and inclusion in the classroom
✅ What We’re Looking For
A caring, patient, and proactive approach Strong communication and teamwork skills A genuine interest in supporting children with SEN Experience with SEN is desirable but not essential — full training and guidance can be provided Backgrounds in education, care, psychology, youth work, or similar fields are highly valued

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
