Desian Education are proud to be working in collaboration with a St Helen’s based primary school that scored “Good” in all areas of Ofsted as they require an experienced and reliable teaching assistant for a long-term full-time temporary contract. This role will be starting on 20/04/2026, will last the remainder of the academic year with a permanent appointment being considered for the new academic year for the right individual.
Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school you will be joining an experienced and supportive KS2 cohort, working collaboratively with a year 3 class teacher to promote the engagement and learning of your new pupils. The class you will be working is at full capacity with a small group with individual ECHP’s with varying levels of SEMH. You will lead on 1:1 support, delivering a trauma-informed curriculum and tailoring your approach to best suit individual emotional & attainment needs as well as personalities, you will:
Delivering well-being and mindfulness sessions to boost confidence and self-esteem
Support with ELSA interventions
Use extensive positive reinforcement and strategies to promote engagement
Regularly liaise with the SENCO on pupil progress, further requirements and key milestones
What you need to succeed
Full “Right to Work” in the UK
Be willing to undergo an Enhanced Children’s DBS check
Have experience working with SEMH and/or behavioural needs
Experience xehkeey supporting trauma
Be at least NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualified
