Teaching Assistants needed with HI Experience

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child aged 5+ with a diagnosed hearing impairment. You’ll work closely with teaching staff, specialist services, and families to ensure the child has full access to the curriculum and a rich, rewarding school experience.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 classroom and pastoral support for a child with hearing impairment

Use tailored strategies and communication methods (e.g., British Sign Language, cued speech, or assistive technology)

Work collaboratively with Teachers of the Deaf, SENDCo, and external agencies to implement and review personalised learning plans

Adapt learning materials and support classroom activities to suit the child’s individual needs

Encourage social interaction, independence, and confidence in and out of the classroom

What We’re Looking For

Experience supporting children with hearing loss or auditory processing difficulties, ideally aged 5+

Knowledge of inclusive communication strategies (e.g., BSL, visual supports, speech-to-text apps) ...
