1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant Hourly Rate: £14.63 Location: Blackburn Job Type: Full-time Working Hours: 08:30 - 15:30, Monday - Friday Start Date: April 2026 We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Blackburn. This role involves working closely with a Key Stage 2 child who has ADHD and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). The ideal candidate will have experience managing challenging behaviour and a strong commitment to supporting the educational and emotional development of children with special educational needs. Day-to-day of the role: Provide tailored support to a KS2 student with ADHD and PDA, focusing on both academic and behavioural needs. Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviours in a positive and effective manner. Work closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs). Facilitate a safe and supportive environment that encourages the student’s engagement and participation. Monitor and record the student's progress, adapting techniques as needed to suit their evolving needs. Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to ensure consistency in support both at school and at home. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience in a similar role, particularly with children who have ADHD and/or PDA. Strong understanding of the strategies needed to manage challenging behaviours effectively. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and parents. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. A patient, caring, and resilient approach to working with children with special educational needs.
