Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Walthamstow, London
Contract: Ongoing, Term time only
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am-3:45pm

About the Role
We are a recruitment agency working on behalf of a 3-form entry mainstream primary school in Walthamstow, who are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a Year 5 class. This role involves supporting pupils with special educational needs, including children who may present challenging and physically demanding behaviour.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN within a Year 5 classroom
Support the class teacher with learning activities and behaviour management strategies
Assist pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour support
Work closely with teaching staff, the SENCO, and other professionals
Ensure pupils' safety, wellbeing, and inclusion at all times

Candidate Requirements

Previous experience working in a primary school setting
Experience supporting children with challenging and/or physical behaviour is essential
Calm, resilient, and patient approach to behaviour management
Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
A qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or an equivalent qualification is desirable but not essential
