SEN Teacher Needed - Specialist Autism School in Maidenhead Specialist SEN School | Ages 4-16 | Autism (ASC) We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and adaptable SEN Teacher to join a highly specialised school in Maidenhead, supporting children aged 4-16 with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about autism education and committed to helping pupils develop academically, socially, and emotionally in a structured, nurturing, and supportive environment. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with a strong interest in SEN and autism are warmly encouraged to apply. About the Role As an SEN Teacher, you will deliver highly personalised, autism-informed learning tailored to each pupil's individual needs, communication style, and EHCP outcomes. Classes are small, with strong adult support, allowing you to focus on meaningful progress, communication, emotional regulation, and independence. The school follows a specialist, low-arousal approach, with an emphasis on consistency, routine, and understanding behaviour as communication. You will typically work within a defined key stage (primary or secondary), rather than across a wide age range. Key Responsibilities * Plan and deliver structured, differentiated lessons aligned with EHCP targets * Teach pupils with autism using specialist strategies (e.g. TEACCH, visual supports, structured teaching) * Create a calm, predictable, and low-arousal learning environment * Support and develop communication skills, including use of AAC where appropriate * Promote emotional regulation, independence, and life skills * Work closely with teaching assistants and a multidisciplinary team (e.g. therapists) * Monitor progress and contribute to reviews and assessment processes * Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues About You * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent) * ECTs are welcome to apply - a strong interest in SEN and autism is essential * Experience working with pupils with autism is desirable but not essential * Understanding of autism-specific approaches (training can be provided) * Patient, consistent, and reflective, with a calm and nurturing approach * Strong commitment to child-centred and inclusive practice * Ability to adapt teaching to meet sensory and communication needs * Willingness to develop specialist SEN and autism expertise What the School Offers * Small class sizes with high staff-to-pupil ratios * A specialist autism-focused environment designed to support sensory and learning needs * A strong, supportive leadership team and collaborative staff culture * Ongoing autism-specific CPD and career development opportunities, including support for ECT induction * Access to a multidisciplinary team, including therapists * The opportunity to make a meaningful, long-term impact on pupils' lives How to Apply If you are an SEN Teacher - including an ECT - looking to join a specialist autism school in Maidenhead, where you can make a genuine difference, please get in touch to find out more and discuss next steps.
