Job Title: SEN Teacher (SEMH – PRU) Location: East London
Salary: MPS/UPS – Paid to Scale
Contract: Full-time (Permanent or Long-term)
We are looking to appoint a skilled and resilient SEN Teacher to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in East London, supporting pupils with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, and complex backgrounds. This is a highly rewarding role for a teacher who thrives in a structured, supportive, and trauma-informed environment.
The Role:
Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to small classes of pupils with SEMH needs
Teach across core subjects (or your subject specialism) at KS3–KS4
Implement consistent behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may be disengaged from education
Track progress against EHCPs, Individual Behaviour Plans, and reintegration targets
Work collaboratively with LSAs, behaviour mentors, pastoral staff, and external agenciesThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience working in a PRU, Alternative Provision, or SEMH setting (essential or highly desirable)
Strong classroom presence with a calm, consistent approach
Excellent understanding of trauma-informed practice and safeguarding
The ability to motivate and re-engage vulnerable learnersWhat’s on Offer:
