Prospero Teaching is delighted to be supporting a warm, inclusive, and highly regarded specialist SEND school in Southampton in their search for a dedicated SEND Class Teacher to join their team from September 2026.
The school provides a nurturing and aspirational environment for pupils aged 3-16 with a wide range of complex needs, including profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), severe learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and complex medical needs. Staff work collaboratively with families, therapists, and medical professionals to ensure every child receives personalised, holistic support and a curriculum that enables them to thrive.
About the Role
Delivering high‑quality, personalised teaching to pupils with complex needs, including PMLD and significant learning difficulties
Planning and delivering an engaging, multi‑sensory curriculum tailored to individual EHCP outcomes
Creating and adapting resources to ensure accessibility, communication development, and meaningful engagement
Supporting pupils' physical, emotional, and social development through consistent routines and nurturing relationships
Working closely with therapists, medical professionals, support staff, and families to provide holistic, coordinated care
Promoting independence, communication, and wellbeing through a highly differentiated and inclusive approach
Contributing to a positive, collaborative team culture within a specialist school environment
What we're looking for
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching pupils with SEND, ideally within a special school or complex needs setting
Strong understanding of PMLD pedagogy, sensory learning, and inclusive practice
Confidence in working with pupils who require medical or physical support (training provided)
Creativity, resilience, and a nurturing approach to supporting children with significant additional needs
A genuine passion for enabling every learner to achieve their full potential
