As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work primarily in a class of up to 8 pupils, supporting the teacher with learning, emotional regulation and positive behaviour for learning. You will help maintain a purposeful classroom environment, build trusting relationships with pupils, and contribute to a team that values collaboration, reflection and shared success. Your role will be central to helping pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.

Location: Bournemouth Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant Type of Work: Classroom‑based support within a specialist SEMH primary school Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full‑time, Monday-Friday, temp‑to‑perm Pay: £14.96 per hour Hours: Monday-Tuesday: 08:30am - 16:05pm / Wednesday-Friday: 08:30am - 15:15pmExperience, Training and Qualifications

Experience supporting children with SEMH, behavioural needs or additional learning needs Understanding of trauma‑informed practice, emotional regulation and behaviour support GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths Confident following learning plans and supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, trusting relationships High levels of professionalism, empathy and emotional intelligence Ability to remain calm, consistent and resilient in challenging situations Understanding of safeguarding, equality and data protection principlesPersonal Qualities
