A central government body is seeking an experiencedSecurity & Resilience Consultantto lead the development and delivery of a repeatable audit framework aligned with government security standards. This is a senior-level, non-digital role for a candidate who can demonstrate strong operational S&R experience within complex, federated organisations.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement a templated, repeatable audit process aligned toGovS 007and local legislative S&R requirements.
Ensure audit frameworks are consistently mapped to relevant industry standards (e.g. ISO, BSI).
Deliver an annual audit programme across multiple organisational units using a defined maturity framework.
Generate both visual (dashboards) and narrative reporting of S&R metrics.
Where possible, automate reporting processes to improve efficiency and accessibility.
Provide comparative maturity scores and peer benchmarking insights.
Support the annualDepartmental Security Health Check (DSHC)submission.
Deliver structured “get well” plans and executive summaries for senior stakeholders post-audit.
Present initial audit findings to senior security leadership and support wider communications.
Conduct workshops and training for S&R professionals to ensure internal audit capability is embedded and repeatable.
Recommend future organisational requirements (roles, training, capability) to sustain long-term S&R maturity.
Essential Skills & Experience
Valid Government Clearance
Willing and able to work on-site in Swindon at least 2 days per week, with travel to other UK offices including Didcot, Cambridge, London, and Keyworth.
Strong experience delivering operational S&R in federated or complex organisations.
Proven track record in developing and applying S&R maturity models.
ISO Lead Implementerqualification.
Comprehensive understanding ofGovS 007: Securityand theDSHCprocess.
Previous experience in a UK Government Department or Arms-Length Body ishighly desirable.
