Job Title: Secondary Teacher (SEN Specialist – Autism) Location: Barnet, London Salary: £37,870 – £56,154 per annum (M1 – U3) Job Type: Full Time, Temporary Start Date: 01 September 2026 Salary will be determined based on experience and position on the Main Pay Range. The maximum salary is applicable to candidates with substantial teaching experience equivalent to U3.
About the Role
Teach Now is pleased to be recruiting for a Secondary Teacher (SEN Specialist) to join a highly regarded autism-specific provision in Barnet. This is an excellent opportunity for both Early Career Teachers with strong SEN experience and experienced practitioners looking to develop their career within a specialist setting.
You will teach small groups of autistic pupils aged 11–19, delivering engaging and differentiated lessons across National Curriculum subjects. Working in a purpose-built, sensory-aware environment, you will support students academic progress while nurturing their social, emotional and communication development.

Key Responsibilities • Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons tailored to autistic learners • Adapt teaching approaches to meet a range of communication, sensory and learning needs • Support pupils academic, social and emotional development • Build positive, trusting relationships with students to foster engagement and confidence • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists and support staff
Candidate Requirements:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) • Experience working with pupils with Special Educational Needs, ideally autism • Strong understanding of inclusive and adaptive teaching strategies • A commitment to high expectations and positive outcomes for all learners • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships • A proactive, reflective and solution-focused approach
ECTs are welcome to apply; however, applicants must have strong SEN knowledge and demonstrable experience working within a specialist setting, such as in a Teaching Assistant or Mentor role.
