Location: Wigan
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Hours: (Apply online only) (Negotiable)
Pay: £140 - £235 P/D
Start Date: January

We are looking for a qualified English Teacher for a brilliant therapeutic alternative provision in Wigan to engage small classes of young people with English. You will have responsibility for establishing student benchmarks and engaging them in lessons that suit their needs.
There are also further opportunities for sufficiently experienced candidates to lead on curriculum for the provision.
This is an ideal opportunity for a teacher looking to take on more responsibility and have some freedom around their approach to teaching. You must hold Qualified Teaching Status (QTS) to be eligible for this position.
This school supports secondary aged students, some of which are on EHCPs.
Due to the nature of the students, you must be comfortable managing emotional dysregulation, some challenging behaviour, and additional needs including ASD, ADHD & Anxiety.

Your Role as an English Teacher

As an English Teacher, you will:

Inspire and engage young people into education
Monitor and assess student attainment
Create and deliver lessons to suit the needs of the class
Manage and support the needs of your students
Maintain classroom stability, and manage the behaviour of small groups
Contribute to a calm, safe and inclusive school environment
We're Looking For

Qualified Teaching Status (QTS)
Experience working within alternative provisions, ideally with SEMH students
The ability to work independently, and have a strong understanding of curriculum
A proactive and patient approach
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Good communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
Robust and comfortable with challenging behaviour
