Job Description
Scientist / Senior Scientist – 3D Genome & NGS Assay Development // Oxford
You are a creative, hands-on assay developer who loves to tinker with protocols, optimise them, and build NGS-based methods that genuinely move science forward. You think deeply about why assays work, when to deviate from a protocol, and how to adapt methods to new cell types and biological questions.
You want to be in a small, high-impact biotech environment where your work directly unblocks an R&D pipeline, rather than adding another incremental dataset to a queue of papers. You’re motivated by impact, pace, and the opportunity to shape how a platform evolves.
We’re partnering with an incredibly exciting, Oxford-based biotech operating at the forefront of 3D genome and non-coding genomics, they are operating assays at the forefront of Biotechnology at scale, a true innovator in this space. Their discovery engine integrates novel assays, deep genomics and high-resolution chromatin biology to uncover gene-regulatory mechanisms that conventional approaches miss.
You will join a core 3D genome assay team. Your work will directly increase throughput, accelerate assay optimisation, and enable expansion into new disease areas and primary cell systems.
THE ROLE
You will:
Develop, refine and optimise 3D genome and NGS-based assays (e.g. ATAC‑seq, ChIP‑seq, RNA‑seq and conceptually related methods) Design and execute experiments to expand assays into new primary cell types and disease-relevant systems Work closely with a Principal Scientist to prioritise work, expanding the platform’s capabilities Collaborate with bioinformatics and biology colleagues to ensure that assay design and data output align with downstream analysis and decision-making
ABOUT YOU
Background in gene regulation, chromatin biology, epigenetics or closely related field Strong, hands-on experience in NGS assay development (e.g. ATAC‑seq, ChIP‑seq, RNA‑seq or similar)s) Bonus: experience with any 3D genome assay (e.g. Hi‑C, Capture‑C or related technologies) Enjoy working in an experimental, innovation-driven environment and taking ownership of your work
LOGISTICS
Title: Scientist or Senior Scientist (flexible, depending on experience) Location: Oxford, lab-based
