School Caretaker - Secondary School - Brent - ASAP Start - Full-Time

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a well-regarded secondary school in Brent seeking a School Caretaker to join their team immediately on a full-time, long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the school, ensuring a clean, secure, and well-maintained environment for staff and students.

School Caretaker - Role Overview

As a School Caretaker, you will be responsible for the general maintenance, security, and upkeep of the school premises. You will work closely with the site team and leadership to ensure the school remains a safe and welcoming place for learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

Opening and closing the school site daily, ensuring security procedures are followed
Carrying out general maintenance and basic repairs across the premises
Monitoring the condition of the building and reporting any issues promptly
Ensuring the school grounds are clean, tidy, and well maintained
Managing waste disposal and supporting cleaning operations where required
Carrying out health and safety checks, including fire alarm testing and basic compliance tasks
Assisting with setting up rooms for events, exams, and school activities
Overseeing contractors on site and ensuring work is completed safely
Supporting the management of site supplies and equipment
Responding to emergency situations as required

Requirements

Previous experience in a caretaker, maintenance, or site assistant role (school experience desirable)
Good practical skills and ability to carry out basic repairs and maintenance tasks
Understanding of health and safety procedures
A proactive, reliable, and hands-on approach
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good communication skills
Flexibility to support occasional out-of-hours requirements if needed
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
