School Caretaker - Secondary School | Newham | Long-Term Role

A secondary school in Newham is seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to join their site team. This is a long-term position running until July 2026, with the potential for extension for the right candidate.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-functioning school environment and enjoys being part of a supportive school community.

Key Responsibilities:

Opening and closing the school site

Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs

Ensuring the school premises are clean, safe, and secure at all times

Setting up rooms and facilities for school activities and events

Conducting regular health and safety checks

Supporting with deliveries and site-related tasks

Liaising with contractors when required

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Previous experience in a caretaker, site assistant, or facilities role (school experience desirable but not essential)

Basic maintenance and DIY skills

A strong understanding of health and safety procedures

Good organisational and communication skills

The ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively

A proactive and reliable approach to work
