Job Title: SCADA Engineer

Location: Outskirts of Burton upon Trent

Salary: up to £57,000 basic + attractive benefits package


Job Purpose

You will join a talented team that are responsible for developing specifications, producing engineering designs, and supporting site activities including testing and commissioning. The role also involves managing technical interfaces and maintaining strong client relationships.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engineering solutions across SCADA, BMS, SISS , and mobile systems.
  • Produce designs, drawings, and technical documentation to meet customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with QHSE, CDM, and relevant rail standards.
  • Review technical specifications and provide support to clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Support project delivery, ensuring progress, quality, and financial targets are met.
  • Investigate and resolve site issues, implementing corrective actions and sharing lessons learned.
  • Assist with bids, quotations, and client proposals.
  • Carry out site surveys, installation, testing, and commissioning activities as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and support team development.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry developments and technologies.


Skills & Experience

  • Experience in rail or saftey critical control systems engineering.
  • SCADA skills with either Panorama or Iconics / MEIDS or WINCC
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (BS, ISO, safety, CDM, rail standards).
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to design systems and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with engineering software/tools (e.g. MS Office, CAD, Visio).
  • Programming/configuration experience (e.g. C, Visual Basic, PLC/HMI systems) desirable.
  • Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND/BEng) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good time management and ability to prioritise workload effectively.


Working Hours

  • 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Flexible working between 07:00–18:00 (core hours apply)
