Main duties of the job Main duties of the job The main duties of this role involve but are not limited to, patient consultations, physical examinations, and the diagnosis and management of various medical conditions. GPs play a pivotal role in chronic disease management, offering ongoing care and coordinating with specialists when necessary.
Support from GP Assistant:work collaboratively with a GP Assistant (GPA) who will provide valuable assistance, allowing you to optimise your efficiency and effectiveness in patient care. Job responsibilities Clinical responsibilities: In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holderwill make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties includingsurgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patientsat home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries,paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion this would include, but not belimited to, responsibility for providing services to the list of patients onthe post-holder's list. Supervision of allied healthprofessionals such as Physician Associate, Paramedic, Pharmacist and Nurses. Making professional, autonomousdecisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referredfrom other health care workers within the organisation. Assessing the health care needsof patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems. Screening patients for diseaserisk factors and early signs of illness. In consultation with patientsand in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing careplans for health. Providing counselling and healtheducation. Admitting or dischargingpatients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers asappropriate. Recording clear andcontemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards. Collecting data for auditpurposes. Compiling and issuingcomputer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-writtenprescriptions whenever possible). Prescribing in accordance withthe practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinicallyappropriate. In general the post-holder willbe expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associatedwith a GP working within primary care. Person Specification Qualifications
Qualifications Membership of the Royal College of general Practitioners or equivalent in training if approved by the Royal College of General Practitioners. Certificate of MRCGP. Registered GP with the GMC (included on the GP Register). Included on GP Performers List. Possesses the right to work in the UK. Certificate of satisfactory immune status re: Hepatitis B and other relevant viruses. Membership of a Medical Defence Organisation (MPS, MDU or MDDUS).
