NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Sunday, 11.45-20.15

This is a Fixed term / secondment post for 12 months.

Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.

The hours could be up to 40 per week and negotiable, if it fall on Mon- Fri 9am-6pm hours, will be paid at in hours salary and in the OOHs it will be the OOH rates.

A 12 month secondment/fixed term opportunity has become available for the role in the Salaried GP Out of Hours (OOH) service. This position supports the commitment to enhance patient care and play a clinical role in providing care in the GP Walk in Centre (WiC) and OOH service.

As part of a new national network of centres, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is due to open its first GP WiC in June 2026. The centre will complement local daytime General Practice and wider primary and community care services, and will have clear clinical pathways in place for opening.

Perhaps you want to broaden your clinical experience as part of a portfolio career. As the biggest OOHs provider in Scotland in delivering this is the perfect chance to use and develop all your skills and expertise as a General Practitioner (GP), providing urgent diagnosis, treatment, advice and referrals to other healthcare resources.

Based in WiC, you’ll be working autonomously within your sphere of competency as a clinician in a multi-skilled team or remote consultations.

Candidates should be fully registered in the GMC register for General Practice with a licence to practice and have been awarded a CCT in General Practice or have completed equivalent

vocational training in General Practice. Candidates should have recent experience of working in a daytime or OOH primary care.

Hours per session will be 12-8pm, seven days per week.

Becoming a salaried GP will provide stability, defined hours and guarantee salary, providing a clear and consistent work pattern, resulting in financial security and employee rights.

The posts are available for up to 37.5 hours a week, at an in-hours salaried GP pay scale and at an OOH GP salaried pay scale for OOH clinical work pro rata 40hours a week; there is flexibility for reduced hour’s commitments and part time subject to negotiation.
