The Mushroom Company, located in Cambridge, Maryland, is North America's largest processor of commercially grown mushrooms. We offer a wide range of mushroom products, including canned, refrigerated, frozen, roasted, organic, and kosher options, to meet the needs of various manufacturing processes and recipe requirements. We are seeking a Safety Coordinator for our Cambridge, MD facility. The successful candidate will assist the Safety Department in conducting the day-to-day safety activities of The Mushroom Company and minimizing the risk of job-related accidents.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Full-time Forklift / Pallet Jack trainer
• Full-time new hire Safety facilitator
• Chemical management organizer and Haz Com / GHS coordinator
• LOTO / Confined Space / Haz Com safety trainer
• Safety inspector and STOP Observation facilitator
• Coordinate and perform all EHS required trainings within the company
• Develop and enforce OSHA guidelines, policies, and requirements
• Ensure monthly departmental safety training is completed • Directing accident investigation procedures
• Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
• Maintain records of safety related incidents and propose corrective actions
• Safety meeting translator and interpreter.
REQUIREMENTS
• Driver's License required;
• Bi-lingual - ability to read, comprehend, and communicate in English and Spanish is required.
• 3+ years of experience required, preferably in a food production environment
• Good listening and communication skills needed.
• Willingness to assist employees with safety issues and/or concerns.
• Computer skills needed (Word, Excel, and Power Point).
• Verbal and written communication skills required.
