Our client, an elite US law firm, is actively recruiting for a Qualified Lawyer to join them on a permanent basis in their thriving London office – working as their new Risk & Compliance Lawyer.


This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has 2+ years post-qualification experience to join their Office of General Counsel – supporting the firm’s regulatory compliance and data privacy frameworks. You’ll be working alongside Partners, Lawyers and the business teams across the firm and be given exposure to ethics, data protection and professional regulation matters.


As the successful Risk & Compliance Lawyer, you’ll be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:


Regulatory Compliance/Ethics:

  • Advising Partners and Lawyers on issues of firm policy, ethics, SRA Standards and GDPR
  • Coordinating practicing certificate renewals
  • Assisting with the firm’s ICO data protection regulation

Data Privacy:

  • Assisting with the review and updating of the firm’s data privacy policies
  • Advising on internal data flows and international data transfers
  • Assisting with the firm’s responses to DSARs and data privacy incidents

Policy Development:

  • Reviewing, drafting and updating internal policies and guidance notes
  • Answering queries from the business on compliance policies and processes

Client/Commercial Documentation:

  • Reviewing and advising on client engagement documents, data processing and NDAs
  • Assisting with the client audit assessment questionnaires

Training:

  • Assisting with keeping the OGC intranet page updated
  • Supporting with horizon-scanning for developments in laws and regulations
  • Assisting with training on data privacy and compliance


To be considered for this opportunity, you’ll need to have/be:

  • Be a Qualified Lawyer (England & Wales or another jurisdiction and willing to sit SQE to become E&W Qualified)
  • Be a minimum of 2+ PQE in a Fee-Earning or Risk & Compliance role
  • Be able to commute to the London office on a regular basis
