Resettlement Officer

Reporting to the Housing and Wellbeing Manager, the Housing and Wellbeing Officer will work with customers to promote and maximise their independence, assisting them to move on to greater self‑reliance within a customer‑focused environment in line with the Independence and Wellbeing framework. This post focuses on move‑on, resettlement work and building strong partnerships with landlords to increase move‑on and prevent homelessness. What you’ll be doing
Assist customers to identify strengths, development needs and risks, and jointly develop a move‑on plan, providing coaching and assistance to achieve greater independence. Encourage community cohesion, identifying opportunities for individuals to come together, share experiences, culture and celebrate diversity. Assist customers to access other agencies and services and facilitate knowledge of wider community resources. Coach and assist customers to maintain their occupancy agreements, fully understand responsibilities and tenure types. Ensure safeguarding concerns are dealt with promptly and in line with guidelines, taking appropriate action. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with peers in relevant organisations or agencies to secure proper support for customers. Create partnerships with social landlords, private landlords and explore various residential options for tenants.
Relevant professional qualifications / Memberships
Institute of Customer Service qualification or willingness to study toward it. Minimum level 2 in English and Maths. Well‑developed IT and keyboard skills. Full UK driving licence and vehicle access for work.
What we need from you
Attend face‑to‑face training sessions, virtual sessions and e‑learning as part of the role. Experience working in Housing Management (desirable). Experience in move‑on and resettlement work (required). Experience using a strengths‑based approach to help customers achieve goals (desirable). Experience with administration, recording procedures and confidentiality. Ability to engage and build relationships with partner agencies. Understanding of safeguarding. Good written and verbal communication. Effective liaison with colleagues and stakeholders to resolve problems. Experience providing or signposting customers to welfare benefit advice services. Demonstrable coaching skills to promote independence. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
