Rehab Assistant

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Spinal Cord Rehabilitation Assistant to support an individual with a spinal injury in home-based settings. This role focuses on promoting independence and quality of life through personalised, rehabilitation-focused support.
The successful candidate will work closely with the individual, their family, and the wider multidisciplinary team to support rehabilitation goals, daily living activities, and emotional wellbeing. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to develop specialist skills within spinal cord rehabilitation while making a meaningful impact on an individual’s recovery journey.
Key Responsibilities

Support the individual with mobility, and positioning in line with spinal cord injury care plans
*
Assist with rehabilitation programmes, exercises, and daily routines as directed by healthcare professionals
*
Encourage independence and participation in meaningful activities
*
Provide emotional support and companionship, promoting confidence and wellbeing
*
Monitor and record changes in the individual’s condition and report concerns promptly
*
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in line with care and rehabilitation plans
*
Support communication between the individual, family members, and healthcare professionals
*
Assist with household tasks such as cleaning, meal preparation, and shopping when required
*
Support attendance at medical appointments, therapy sessions, and social activities
*
Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive environment, adhering to health and safety guidelines at all times
Requirements
*
Valid UK driving licence and willingness to support with transport as required
*
Previous experience in care, rehabilitation, or support work is desirable (experience with spinal injuries is an advantage but not essential)
*
Understanding of person-centred care, rehabilitation principles, and care plans
*
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*
Good IT skills for accurate record-keeping and documentation
*
Fluent in English (spoken and written)
*
Compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to supporting individuals with complex needs
*
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
*
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
