Children’s Homes Service – County Durham
Durham County Council are expanding their Children’s Homes Service and have two exciting leadership opportunities for passionate professionals who want to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people.
Registered Homes Manager
- Salary: £50,269 – £54,495 (plus £2,500 temporary recruitment/retention allowance and £3,500 temporary Market Supplement)
- Location: A designated Children’s Home in County Durham
As a Registered Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day running of a home, ensuring high-quality care and compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015. You’ll manage teams, safeguard vulnerable young people, and drive continuous improvement.
What you’ll bring:
- Leadership experience in residential childcare
- Knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted standards
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards within 18 months)

Service Manager
- Salary: £56,554 – £60,680 (plus £2,500 temporary recruitment/retention allowance)
- Location: Green Lane Offices, Spennymoor (with flexibility across County Durham)
As a Service Manager, you’ll provide strategic leadership across the growing service, supporting Registered Managers, driving quality assurance, and leading service development. Your expertise will shape a culture of excellence and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
What you’ll bring:
- Proven track record in service improvement and quality assurance
- Level 5 management qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience as a Registered Manager or Responsible Individual registered with Ofsted
- In-depth knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted frameworks
