Key Responsibilities

Building Control and Compliance

Undertake plan assessments for projects within the Class 2D scope, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation.

Carry out site inspections at key construction stages to verify compliance and identify areas requiring corrective action.

Provide clear, practical advice to applicants, contractors, and design teams.

Produce accurate inspection notes, reports, notices, and compliance documentation.

Technical Expertise

Assess Full Plans, Building Notices, and Regularisation applications.

Provide technical guidance on structure, fire safety, accessibility, energy efficiency, drainage, and other regulatory areas relevant to Class 2D.

Liaise with architects, engineers, builders, and homeowners to support compliant design and construction.

Escalate complex or borderline matters to senior colleagues where appropriate.

Regulatory and Professional Standards

Operate in accordance with BSR registration requirements for Class 2D.

Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Building Regulations, technical standards, and industry developments.

Contribute to service improvements and uphold professional standards.

Class 2D Competency Scope

A Registered Building Inspector at Class 2D is authorised to work on:

Domestic dwellings (new build, extensions, alterations)

Small commercial buildings of limited complexity

Minor works, refurb...
