Wellington College Sports (WCS) operates a busy, dual-use Health & Fitness Club serving College pupils, staff, members and external hirers. The Recreation Assistant plays an important role in ensuring the Club runs smoothly each day, delivering excellent customer service while maintaining a safe, clean and well-prepared environment across all facilities.

The Role

As a Full Time Recreation Assistant, you will contribute to the day-to-day operation of the Club, supporting a wide range of users and activities. You will help create a positive experience for everyone who visits, providing a friendly, professional presence and encouraging confident use of the facilities. A key part of the role involves maintaining safety standards, particularly within the pool environment, through attentive lifeguarding and adherence to operational procedures.

You will assist with preparing activity spaces and equipment, ensuring facilities are presented to a high standard and ready for use. The role also includes routine checks, basic maintenance tasks and supporting general cleanliness, reporting any issues promptly to senior staff. Working as part of a wider operational team, you will support Duty Managers and the Operations Manager as required, contributing to the efficient running of the Club throughout busy periods.

About You

This role would suit someone who enjoys working in an active, customer-focused environment and takes pride in delivering a high standard of service. You will be comfortable engaging with a wide range of users and able to remain calm, attentive and professional at all times. A positive, flexible approach and willingness to support colleagues are essential.

You will either hold, or be willing to obtain and maintain, the relevant lifeguarding qualification, and you should be confident in your swimming ability. An interest in leisure, health and fitness, along with a commitment to ongoing training and development, will support success in the role.
