Team Overview


  • The real estate finance team operates at the top of the market, advising both lenders and sponsors on investment and development financing in the UK and across Europe.
  • The practice also covers senior/mezzanine facilities, investment grade financing, and distressed or non-performing loan transactions.
  • Two-partner team with a strong cohort of associates and trainees
  • Consistently ranked in the top tiers by leading legal directories
  • Regularly advises on high-profile and sophisticated mandates
  • Works closely with the wider real estate and finance teams across Europe
  • Balanced lender/borrower practice, with a significant portion of lender-side work


Primary Objectives


  • Deliver excellent client service and lead high-value real estate finance transactions
  • Meet and exceed billable hours and performance expectations
  • Build and develop strong client relationships
  • Contribute to business development and growth initiatives
  • Supervise, support, and mentor junior team members


Responsibilities


  • Handle a broad range of transactional real estate finance matters with both domestic and cross-border elements
  • Act as lead lawyer on suitable transactions, delegating effectively and coordinating with partners and colleagues
  • Provide strategic advice on complex legal issues and manage matters efficiently, including WIP and billing
  • Strengthen client relationships by anticipating needs, communicating proactively, and delivering high-quality advice
  • Support firm-wide initiatives, including diversity & inclusion, CSR, training, and industry engagement
  • Comply with all risk, regulatory, and professional obligations, and contribute to client onboarding and acceptance processes


Qualifications, Skills & Experience


  • Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) in a relevant jurisdiction
  • Senior associate-level experience in real estate finance from a comparable environment
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, writing, and project management skills
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of law firm financial performance
  • Knowledge of real estate finance products and client sectors
