Department: Real Estate Disputes

Reports to: Heads of Department / Senior Associates


A leading full-service law firm is seeking a Solicitor to join its Real Estate Disputes team. The role involves supporting partners and senior lawyers across a broad range of contentious real estate matters, with the opportunity to develop specialist expertise over time.


Overview of Work

The team handles all aspects of contentious property law, including:

  • Residential and commercial landlord and tenant disputes
  • Enfranchisement and lease extension matters
  • Rights of way, easements, and rights to light issues
  • Planning and development-related disputes
  • Management of land and buildings, including service charge challenges
  • Construction-related disputes and licensing of works
  • Disputes involving resident-owned companies
  • Mediation, arbitration, and court proceedings


The successful candidate will be expected to have some prior knowledge of these areas and will be supported in developing further technical expertise.


Key Responsibilities

Technical Work

  • Manage client files efficiently and in compliance with firm and regulatory standards.
  • Provide written and verbal advice on a wide range of property disputes.
  • Conduct meetings with clients, counsel, and third parties.
  • Prepare for and attend court and tribunal hearings.
  • Brief and liaise with counsel; handle advocacy where appropriate.
  • Undertake legal research to support advice and strategy.
  • Record and manage deadlines, time entries, and client instructions accurately.
  • Keep up to date with legislative and case law developments relevant to property litigation.


General Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and a positive attitude.
  • Support junior colleagues where appropriate.
  • Communicate clearly within the team to ensure efficient workload management.
  • Confidently use IT and case management systems.
